Description

Jorge Srur was born in Argentina and has a distinguished professional career spanning multilateral development banking, public service, and academia. He served as Alternate Executive Director for Argentina and Haiti (2020–2022) at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), where he had previously worked as a Senior Specialist in State Modernization (2009–2016). In 2013, he received the Antonio Ortiz Mena Award for his outstanding service to the institution. Between 2016 and 2020, he led CAF’s contribution to citizen security, first as Principal Executive for Institutional Development (2016–2017), and later, within the Cities with a Future program, as Principal Executive for Analysis and Technical Evaluation of Sustainable Development (2017–2020). CAF’s Southern Regional Manager also held several high-level positions in Argentina’s public sector. He served as Undersecretary for Coordination and Innovation at the Ministry of Justice, Security and Human Rights; General Manager of PAMI (National Institute of Social Services for Retirees and Pensioners); and was twice elected Legislator of the City of Buenos Aires, where his office obtained international ISO 9001:2000 Quality Certification — the first case of its kind globally. He was also National Director of the National Institute of Technological Education at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology; Head of Civil Administration for Police and Security Forces; Executive Secretary of the National Youth Institute at the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs; and National Director for Youth Promotion at the same ministry, among other roles. In academia, Mr. Srur is Professor of Human, Economic, and Social Development at the School of Government of Universidad Austral. He has also conducted research at the Institute for Studies on the Argentine and Latin American Reality (IERAL) and founded and directed the journal Gobierno Digital. Jorge Srur holds a degree in Political Science from the Catholic University of Córdoba, Argentina, where he graduated with the University Award. He pursued studies in economics, a postgraduate degree in Management and Control of Public Policies from FLACSO (Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences, Argentina), and is a PhD candidate (ABD) at the University of El Salvador, Argentina.
