Description

Dr. Kim currently serves as the Commissioner of Invest KOREA, leading the agency’s investment promotion mandate under Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy. He brings over three decades of extensive experience in economics, international trade, and business strategy. Dr. Kim earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Washington, and completed Harvard Business School's advanced management program. Prior to joining Invest KOREA, he served as Economist, Managing Partner, and Board Member at Deloitte US, Deloitte Korea, and Deloitte Asia Pacific, and as Associate Research Fellow at Korea Institute for International Economic Policy(KIEP). His distinguished career also includes advisory roles on the Korea–U.S. FTA Advisory Committee and the 20th Presidential Transition Committee. Alongside his current responsibilities, Dr. Kim has served as a Visiting Professor of Economics at Sookmyung Women’s University and a committee member on the Saemangeum Committee. The Saemangeum Committee is playing a pivotal role in turning Korea’s bold vision into reality—delivering the world’s longest man-made sea dike and creating a landmark for sustainable growth and innovation. With a career spanning top-tier consulting firms, academia, and high-level advisory positions, Dr. Kim is recognized as a leading expert in fostering foreign investment and economic growth in Korea.
