Description

Fares Al-Hussami is Head of FDI Qualities and Impact in the Sustainable Investment Unit of OECD Investment Division. Mr. Al-Hussami leads the implementation of the FDI Qualities Initiative, which equips governments with indicators, standards, and policy analysis to understand how to enhance the impact of FDI in areas like productivity, digital transformation, job quality, skills, gender equality, and climate resilience. He also leads country and regional reviews, and has worked with governments in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, and Eurasia to improve the climate for investment. He contributed to the development of the OECD FDI Qualities Policy Toolkit and OECD FDI Qualities Indicators and was the lead author of the report Middle East and North Africa Investment Policy Perspectives. Prior to the OECD, Mr. Al-Hussami worked at the Research and Analysis Unit of the International Labor Office (ILO), where he co-authored studies on the impact of the global financial crisis on countries’ labour markets. He graduated in economics from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, and the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, Germany.
