Biography
Younyoung Park is a senior statistician with nearly three decades of professional experience spanning national statistical development, international cooperation, and policy-relevant data coordination. He currently serves as a Senior Statistician at the ILO, where he supports global research partnerships, including collaboration with Statistics Korea (KOSTAT) on international labour migration statistics.
Before joining the ILO, Mr. Park held several senior roles at Statistics Korea, including Director of the Survey Support Division and Deputy Director of multiple divisions such as Survey Planning, International Cooperation, and Statistical Services. His work has been instrumental in managing large-scale national indicators, enhancing statistical quality assurance, and developing frameworks for business demography and green growth indicators.
Mr. Park has represented Korea in major international forums including the UN, OECD, and FAO, and has presented papers at multiple World Statistics Congresses of the International Statistical Institute. His topics range from enterprise life cycles and regional development to international data provision and census planning.
He holds a Master of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Adelaide and a joint International Master’s degree in Information Management from the University of Malaya and Leeds Metropolitan University. Mr. Park also holds certifications as an Information Processing Engineer and a Class 2 Social Survey Analyst.
