Description

Dr Justine Lacey is Director of Responsible Innovation at Australia’s national science agency, CSIRO. At CSIRO, responsible innovation is a novel program of research examining the social and ethical challenges posed by emerging science domains, to systematically and scientifically assess the benefits, risks, and uncertainties presented by these areas of future science and technology. This includes the digital, genetic and environmental-scale technologies that are shaping the world around us. By building the foundational capabilities and methodologies to understand and anticipate the intended and unintended consequences of future science and technology, the aim is to direct our most forward-looking innovation toward realising not only new possibilities for the world, but possibilities that deliver real and enduring value to people and planet.
