Description

Pieter Vermaas is philosopher of quantum technology and design at the Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands. He obtained his PhD with research on the foundations of quantum mechanics at Utrecht University, and he advanced philosophy of technology at TU Delft with research on the ontology of technical artefacts, the epistemology of design, and the safeguarding of moral and societal values in technology through design. His current research concerns the ethics and epistemology of quantum technologies. He is the Ethics Research Lead of the Dutch National Growthfund programme Quantum Delta NL, has been President of the international Society for Philosophy and Technology, and is Editor-in-Chief of the book series Philosophy of Engineering and Technology.
