Description
Dr. Kitipong Promwong is the President of Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO). He is appointed by the Prime Minister (PM) to be responsible for the formulation of national policy and initiatives on higher education, science, technology, and innovation. He directly reports to the PM and the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.
He was in charge of drafting important national policy proposals including, for instance, the proposal on national reform on higher education, science, technology and innovation, The Research and Innovation Utilisation Promotion, fiscal and financial incentive packages to promote research, development and innovation of the private firms, promotion of entrepreneurship and startups in Thailand, and STI policy related to Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG). He was also in the core team responsible for drafting the laws related to the establishment of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.
He has played an important role in formulating strategic programs and initiatives related to education science, technology and innovation development in Thailand. Current key policy initiatives he actively participates include higher education innovation sandbox, manpower development strategy to meet future investment, restructuring research and funding system, and national strategy to promote innovation-driven enterprise (IDE) in Thailand.
He was also board member of organizations and academic institutions including, for example, Advisor to Board of Investment (BOI) and Council Member of Chiang Mai University, and is Board Member of National Food Institute of Thailand, Board Member of Science, Research, and Innovation Promotion Office, and Advisory Member of the Council of Chulabhorn Royal Academy.
