Biography

Renata Vargas Amaral is Secretary of International Affairs and Development of the Ministry of Planning and Budget. PhD from the University of Maastricht (Netherlands), PhD in Law and Bachelor of Law from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil) and Master in International Trade from the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain). Lawyer, with more than 17 years of extensive experience in multilateral organizations, bilateral and regional trade negotiations, international commercial disputes and commercial policy. Founder of Women Inside Trade (WIT), an international NGO of professional women in international trade present in several countries. She is an Adjunct Professor at the American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL). She has served as a member of the Private Sector Committee of the Chamber of Foreign Commerce (CONEX/CAMEX), as Head of International Trade and Goods Regulatory Practices of the Inter-American Coalition for Regulatory Convergence of the Medical Device Sector, as well as a member of the Researchers Hub in World Trade Organization Gender.
