Biography
Dr. Sahar Nasr is a member of the Egyptian Senate, and the Deputy Head of its Finance, Economic, and Investment Committee.
Dr. Nasr is the Advisor to His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and the Secretary General of the Zakat and Charities Fund, the humanitarian and development arm of Al-Azhar.
Previously, she served as the Minister of Investment and International Cooperation. During her tenure she spearheaded key legal and regulatory reforms to promote a conducive investment climate and private sector-led growth. Prior to that, she was an advisor to the President of Egypt, contributing to the development the national economic and structural reform program. Dr. Nasr was also the Lead Economist of the Finance and Private Sector Development Division at the World Bank, where she spent more than 20 years.
Dr. Nasr is a Professor of Economics at the American University in Cairo and several other international universities and has authored numerous internationally recognized books and articles.
