Description
There is growing momentum to invest in the blue economy, from port development and ocean renewables to coastal ecosystem restoration. Yet private investment remains constrained by limited project pipelines, fragmented governance, high perceived risks and challenges in monetising ecosystem services. This session examines the role of private finance and the policy and economic tools that can support it in advancing a resilient, inclusive and sustainable blue economy. It highlights approaches such as de-risking mechanisms, better data, enabling frameworks and improved project bankability, drawing on case studies and diverse stakeholder perspectives.
