Description

Institutional interest in small-scale and distributed renewable energy is growing, and deployment is increasing in both developed and emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs). This momentum is also visible in recent investment trends. Yet, this market segment continues to rely mainly on public and development finance and significant barriers continue to limit private capital deployment and mobilisation at scale across EMDEs. The Roundtable will bring together investors, financiers, developers and other key stakeholders to explore practical solutions to mobilise institutional capital for small-scale renewables, including risk-sharing mechanisms, aggregation models, innovative financing structures, policy and regulatory approaches to improve bankability and reach scale. The Roundtable discussions will inform the development of an upcoming report of the OECD Clean Energy Finance and Investment Mobilisation (CEFIM) Programme.
