Biography

Vice-President of the Sustainable Development Commission Jana Simanovska is a Latvian environmental scientist, environmental engineer, chemist, university lecturer, social activist and politician. Elected to the 14th Saeima in 2022 from the Progressive Party. In 1994, she graduated from the University of Latvia, receiving a bachelor's degree in environmental science and chemistry, but, continuing her studies, in 1997, she also received a master's degree in environmental science and administration. She received a doctorate in environmental engineering from Riga Technical University. She works as a lecturer at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences. Previously, she was a civic activist in various public organizations - she is the chairwoman of the board of the association "Ecodesign Competence Center", as well as actively working in "Society for Openness Delna", "Latvian Parents Forum", "Freedom and Solidarity Foundation" and other organizations.
