Biography

Head of secretariat of the Commitee on Culture, Science, Education and Media, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Tatiana Termacic heads the Secretariat of the Committee on Culture, Science, Education and Media of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Previously, she headed the Secretariat of the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons. Some of her past responsibilities during her 25- year long career at the Council of Europe have also included supporting member States to fulfill their obligations in human rights and rule of law areas through cooperation projects, and the promotion of abolition of the death penalty, particularly in Belarus. She was also the Council of Europe contact person for the EU’s Fundamental Rights Agency. Previously, she worked for the United Nations’ Special Rapporteur for the former Yugoslavia, Tadeusz Mazowiecki, and at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. She holds a master’s degree in comparative public law from the Panthéon-Sorbonne University and was called to the Paris Bar in 1992.
