Biography

Political career: Contested the local elections in 1994 and was subsequently elected, where he served as councillor till 1996. Contested the 1996 General Elections and elected Member of Parliament. Appointed Assistant Whip and Cashier of the parliamentary group. Contested the 1998 General Elections and elected Member of Parliament. Appointed Spokesman for Youth and Sport, Assistant Whip and Secretary of the Labour Party Parliamentary Group. Contested the 2003 General Elections and elected Member of Parliament. In 2003 was unanimously appointed Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, where I served for seven years in this position. Appointed Main Spokesman for Education, Youth, Sports and Culture. In 2008 was unanimously appointed Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. Appointed Main Spokesman for Industry and Foreign Investment and subsequently for Social Policy. Re-elected in 2013
