Biography
Economist. She graduated from the Department of Economics at Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences. She earned an MA in Economics from Michigan State University and a PhD in Economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She taught macroeconomics and microeconomics at Virginia Tech and researched the role of small businesses in reducing unemployment. She worked in her family’s dairy business. Elected MP for Edirne in the 27th term, she served as AK Party MKYK member, Spokesperson of the Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Affairs Committee, and Chair of the Equal Opportunities for Women and Men Committee. She is a member of the Public Economic Enterprises Committee and the Turkish Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
