Biography

Karl Vanlouwe is a Flemish Member of Parliament and an experienced federal senator with a long-standing focus on international affairs, security, and multilateral cooperation. He serves as Chair of the Senate’s Committee on Transversal Affairs and has been actively involved in European Committee of the Regions, where he has held several leadership roles, including President of the group. Trained as a lawyer, he combines legal expertise with strong engagement in diplomacy and democratic governance. Within the OECD Parliamentary Days, he contributes his experience on rule of law, international security, and strengthening cooperation between parliaments and international institution.
