Biography
Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez was born on May 4, 1976, in Xalapa-Enríquez, Veracruz. He serves as Senator of the Republic for Veracruz in the LXVI Legislature, elected under the first-minority principle. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a specialization in Finance and International Marketing from the University of Miami, Florida. He served as a Local Deputy in the Congress of Veracruz (2004–2007) and as Mayor of Boca del Río for two terms (2008–2010 and 2014–2017). He also served as National Secretary of the National Association of Mayors, A.C., and as State Coordinator of the Oportunidades Program (SEDESOL). He currently chairs the Senate Committee on Finance and Public Credit and serves as Secretary on the Justice and Energy Committees, among others.
