Biography
Piero Fassino, 76 y.o., member of the Chamber of Deputies.
He was first elected to Parliament in 1994 and was re-elected in every legislature until until now.
He is currently Vice President of the Defense Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, where he was Chair of Middle East Committee (2023-2025) and currently serves as Chair of the Balkan’s Committee.
He is also President of the Italy-France Friendship Section of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
From 2020 to 2022, he was Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies
He served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister for Foreign Trade and Minister of Justice.
From 2001 to 2007, he was leader of the Democrats of the Left (DS).
In 2007, he was among the founders of the Democratic Party (PD)
From 2007 to 2011, he was appointed as the European Union’s Special Envoy for Myanmar.
From 2011 to 2016, he served as Mayor of Turin.
