Biography
Nurina Syahmina Ramesh is a Malaysian youth leader and advocate for gender-inclusive leadership, youth participation, and sustainable development. She serves as the Director of AYO Enviro, an affiliate of the ASEAN Youth Organization (AYO), a regional non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young people across Southeast Asia through leadership development, community engagement, and cross-border collaboration.
Through her work with AYO, Nurina has contributed to initiatives that promote meaningful youth participation, equitable leadership opportunities, and greater representation of women in decision-making spaces. She has supported efforts to encourage balanced gender representation across leadership teams, programmes, and regional youth initiatives, reflecting her belief that inclusive leadership is essential to achieving sustainable and equitable development.
As Director of AYO Enviro, Nurina advocates for environmental sustainability, climate action, and youth engagement in addressing regional and global challenges. Her work has enabled her to collaborate with diverse youth communities across ASEAN and gain insights into the opportunities and barriers facing young people, particularly women and girls.
Professionally, Nurina has experience in marketing, communications, stakeholder engagement, and programme management, having worked on regional conferences and initiatives that bring together industry leaders and professionals from across Asia.
As a representative of the ASEAN youth perspective, Nurina is committed to advancing gender equality and ensuring that women and girls are empowered to actively contribute to and shape the digital, social, and sustainable transformations of the future.
