Biography
Siyabulela Jentile is the Executive Director of Civic Root Advocacy, a civic engagement and public policy organisation advancing democratic participation, equity, and inclusive governance. The organisation works to ensure that public policy is shaped by the voices, needs, and lived experiences of communities. He is a civic leader, writer and human rights defender who transitioned from civil engineering to civil rights, with a focus on democratic accountability, gender equality, and inclusive governance.
An Obama Foundation Leader, Mandela Washington Fellow, and Laureate of the French Government’s Initiative Marianne, he has engaged institutions including UNESCO, the United Nations Human Rights Council, and the European Parliament. His work has been recognised by the United Nations for its contribution to civic participation and human rights. He is the author of Democracy Through Tinted Windows, a reflection on power, distance, and the design of democratic accountability.
