Biography
Senior Gender Specialist at the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) since 2010, Eva Villarreal has contributed to the design and implementation of research, legal analysis, and institutional strengthening initiatives aimed at advancing and protecting women's human rights across the Americas.
Within the Follow-up Mechanism to the Belém do Pará Convention (MESECVI), she supports the implementation of the Convention by States Parties through the development of inter-American standards, and recommendations, to strengthen national responses to violence against women. She also participated in the drafting of the MESECVI'S Model Law on Digital Violence Against Women.
She holds a Law degree from Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona), completed studies in International Law at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Milan), and earned a Diploma in Justice, Gender and Violence from CLACSO/FLACSO.
