Biography

Technical Secretary Luz Patricia Mejia Guerrero Luz Patricia Mejía Guerrero is the Technical Secretary of the Organization of American States’ Follow-Up Mechanism to the Belém do Pará Convention (MESECVI). She previously served as Rapporteur for Women's Rights, Commissioner, and President of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR). Mejía holds a law degree from the Faculty of Juridical and Political Sciences of the Central University of Venezuela, a Master's in Public Law from Carlos III University of Madrid, and a Master's in International Law from George Washington University. She has served as Director of the Legal Office of the Public Ministry and as General Director of Legal Services at the Office of the Ombudsperson in Venezuela. Throughout her career, she has led emblematic strategic litigation cases involving especially vulnerable populations, including people living with HIV, migrants, and women in situations of heightened vulnerability.
