Biography

State Secretary to the Minister of Social Security Laura Rissanen Laura Rissanen, born on 15 April 1976, has served as a State Secretary to the Minister of Social Security since June 2023. State Secretary Rissanen is responsible for EU and international affairs that fall within the Minister’s area of responsibility, and matters related to occupational safety and health, farm relief services and gender equality. Rissanen has over twenty years of experience in policymaking, ranging from municipality decision-making to the European Parliament. She knows how decisions are made, and the people behind the decisions. Rissanen has held numerous positions of trust, such as being a city council member in the years 2009-2017 and deputy member since 2017. Rissanen holds a Master’s degree in Social Sciences, majoring in political history. During her leisure time, Rissanen enjoys reading, jogging, fitness, swimming, choral singing, restaurants, travelling and children’s hobbies.
