Matthias Zink serves as the Deputy Director at the International Centre for Water Resources and Global Change (ICWRGC), where he also acts as the Head of the International Soil Moisture Network (ISMN). In this capacity, he is involved in the global coordination of data exchange and management, ensuring that essential hydrological information is accessible and standardized for the international scientific community. Further, he actively participates in specialized working groups within the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and other international organizations, where he contributes to shaping global policies and technical frameworks for water resource monitoring and assessments. These assessments involve the analysis, prediction and projections of extreme event such as droughts.
