Description

Laurel Hunt is a JD candidate at UCLA School of Law. She also holds a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from UCLA. The university recruited Laurel to attend graduate school on a full scholarship. She has worked for nearly a decade on on climate change policy and planning with local governments, businesses, community-based organizations and the United Nations. Laurel contributed to "OurCounty" (LA County's first-ever sustainability plan); "Resilient Los Angeles" (Mayor Eric Garcetti's resilience framework for LA); the City of Santa Monica's Climate Action and Adaptation Plan; California's 4th Climate Assessment; and "Resilient Communities Across Geographies" (Hardcover book published by Esri Press in 2020). Laurel has spoken at events such as the annual United Nations "Conference of the Parties" in Morocco, Poland and Bonn; the California Adaptation Forum; a Fulbright Scholar speaker series; UCLA's Leaders in Sustainability graduation; Loyola Marymount University's graduate school; and the California Office of the Treasurer's press release for the statewide electric truck program.
