Mr. ONO Hiroshi has served as Vice-Minister for Global Environmental Affairs at the Ministry of Environment of Japan (MOEJ) since July 2022. He is in charge of MOEJ’s international affairs, including global environmental conservation. He represents MOEJ in international dialogues and negotiations.
Before becoming the Vice-Minister, he held prominent positions during his 35 years in MOE Japan as Director-General of Global Environment Bureau, Director-General of Environmental Management Bureau and others. He has attended various international meetings representing Japan for environment, climate change, including G7, G20, and COP. He obtained master’s degree from the Graduate School of Engineering of the University of Tokyo in 1987.
