Description
Beatrice Rammstedt studied psychology at the Universities of Bielefeld, Paris-Nanterre and UC Berkeley, received her doctorate in 2000 at the Georg-August University Göttingen, and habilitated at the University of Mannheim in 2007. At GESIS, she was scientific director of the Survey Design and Methodology department from 2011 to 2024 and, in parallel, deputy president from 2015 to 2024. In 2024, she was appointed vice president and member of the executive board.
Her research interests focus on questionnaire design and validation, the assessment of non-cognitive scales (special focus on Big Five personality dimensions), and the methodology of cultural comparative large-scale studies.
Beatrice Rammstedt is member of the consortium for the development and international comparative implementation of the OECD study “Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies” (PIAAC) and led the study for Germany. She is a member of numerous advisory bodies, such as the scientific advisory board of the “Decade of Literacy” or the Council for Information Infrastructure (RfII) as a representative of an information infrastructure institution.
