Description

Yvonne McKenna is the Director of the National Programme Office established to centrally coordinate the Irish Government's Adult Literacy for Life (ALL) Strategy. ALL is a national 10-year strategy that aims to ensure every adult in Ireland has the necessary literacy, numeracy and digital literary to engage in society and realise their potential. She has held the position since November 2022. Prior to ALL, Yvonne worked primarily in the community and voluntary sector, including CEO positions with Gaisce – The President’s Award and Volunteer Ireland. She currently sits on the National Volunteering Strategy Implementation Group and is a board member of Henrietta Street School for young people at risk. She holds degrees from University College Dublin (BA), the University of London (MA) and Warwick University (PhD), and was an Irish Research Council Post-doctoral Fellow in the University of Limerick. Her research focused on 20th century Irish women’s history and she taught and published on this and related subjects.
