Allan Mulrooney is CEO of the Western Development Commission (WDC), a statutory body established by the Irish Government to promote and support economic and social development in Ireland’s Western Region. Under his leadership, the WDC works across policy, investment, and regional development to strengthen communities, scale indigenous industry, and address structural challenges facing peripheral regions. The agency invests in high-potential enterprises, delivers national initiatives such as ConnectedHubs.ie, and serves as a key advisor to government on regional issues. Allan has championed place-based development throughout his career, previously working with IDA Ireland, the national inward investment agency, and supporting grassroots initiatives from farmers' markets to film festivals in his personal time. His work reflects a deep commitment to unlocking the potential of regions by connecting culture, creativity, enterprise, and community.
