Description

Dr Andrew Forde is the Head of Rural Strategy and Social Enterprise at the Department of Rural and Community Development. He has overall responsibility for the development and oversight of the implementation of Our Rural Future, Ireland’s National Rural Development Policy 2021 – 2025 and the National Social Enterprise Policy for Ireland 2019 – 2022. He is Ireland’s representative on the OECD’s Working Party on Rural Policy. He Chairs the National Social Enterprise Policy Implementation Group and is the Irish government’s representative on the European Commission’s Expert Group on the Social Economy (GECES). Andrew holds LLM and PhD degrees in International Human Rights Law from the Irish Centre for Human Rights at the University of Galway, and prior to joining the civil service he spent 15 years working with international human rights and civil society organisations mainly in conflict and post-conflict regions.
