Tom Jones is a mid Wales livestock Farmer, former President of the Wales Young Farmers Movement and Vice President of Wales Council for Voluntary Action. He is a former Legal Aid Commissioner for England and Wales and represented the UK in Brussels on the EESC, European Economic and Social Committee where he was a bureau member and Rapporteur on Opinions related to the 2014-2020 RDP , The futue of Villages and small towns, and the contribution of rural areas to the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage. A former member of the Smart Villages Project, he is President of ERCA, EUROPEAN,RURAL COMMUNITY ALLIANCE, and which is a joint organiser of the European Rural Parliament. He is an author and Fellow of Aberystwyth University, and participated at the 2 previous OECD Rural Conferences.
