Description

Ahmet Şimşek holds BS in City and Regional Planning from Middle East Technical University. He has Executive MBA Degree. Began his professional career as Procurement Associate in the World Bank’s Istanbul Seismic Risk and Mitigation Project (2007-2009). Mr Şimşek worked as Planning Specialist at the Ministry of Development former State Planning Office (2009-2018) under the Prime Minister Office. Mr Şimşek was appointed as Head of Department for the Coordination of the Regional Development Agencies at the Ministry of Industry and Technology (2018-2021). Since 2021, he was appointed as Deputy General Director at the same Ministry. He is in charge of directing 26 regional development agencies and 4 regional development administration at the national level. In the meantime, he is the Director of Social Entrepreneurship Project guided by the World Bank and funded by the European Union with 39,5 million Euro. And he is the board member of investment committee of Regional Development Fund which works as Private Equity Fund and invests SMEs.
