Description

Adriana Mejía-Hernández is the Colombian Ambassador to the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) since August 30, 2021. Previously, she served as Vice Minister for Multilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia during two presidential terms; first, between 2006 and 2010 and recently, between 2018 and 2021. She also served as Vice Minister of Culture; Director of the Institute of Culture and Tourism of the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá; and Director of Citizen Participation of the Bogotá Comptroller’s Office. Her experience in multilateral organizations includes the position as Director of Public Security of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington D.C. In the private sector, she has participated in RCN Television, as Manager for Social Responsibility and as Executive President of the Colombian Book Chamber. Ms. Mejía-Hernández has also been a consultant for the Presidential Human Rights Program and the Office of the High Commissioner for Peace. Additionally, she was part of the Advisory Commission of the Government of Colombia and the Nations Program for Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for Drug Policy Reform; member of the Board of Directors of the Smurfit Kappa Foundation, and member of the Advisory Board of the Global Drug Policy Program of Open Society Foundations. From 2015 to 2018, Ms. Mejía-Hernández served as Executive Director of the Institute of Political Science Hernán Echavarría Olózaga, a think tank devoted to promote democracy, free enterprise and public policy design and implementation.
