Dr. Sengupta has been working for securing the identity and entitlements of mine workers in small scale/ minor mineral mining in Rajasthan. He has been contributing for securing OHS in small scale mining and has contributed for helping silicosis victims to get rightful diagnosis and rehabilitation. His vital contribution has been in demanding for a Mine Workers Welfare Board. His postdoctoral research has been on labour standard in the supply chain of natural stones.
