Description

Journalist with more than 17 years of experience covering the Venezuelan Amazon, with special interest in investigating and understanding the intersection between economy, environment and human rights. She is co-founder of the Network of Journalists of the Venezuelan Amazon and director of the School of Social Communication at the Andrés Bello Catholic University, Guayana campus. She is studying for a master's degree in Environmental Sciences at the Universidad Nacional Experimental de Guayana (UNEG). She has collaborated with international media and worked on cross-border collaborative projects focused on extractivism, socio-environmental conflicts and crime. She has been a grantee of the Pulitzer Center and a fellow of the Rainforest Research Network (RIN) of the same organisation. In September 2023, she received the Global Shining Light Award along with Joseph Poliszuk for the work Corredor Furtivo; the award was presented by the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN). He has also participated in winning and finalist projects for awards from the Inter American Press Association (IAPA), Instituto de Prensa y Sociedad (IPYS Venezuela), Premio Gabo, Online News Association (ONA), Sigma Awards and Conferencia Latinoamericana de Periodismo de Investigación (Colpin).
