Description
Organised by adelphi research GmbH and the German Environment Agency (UBA)
This workshop, organised as part of the research project “Cost allocation and incentive mechanisms for environmental, climate protection and resource conservation along global supply chains” commissioned by the German Environment Agency (UBA), aims to identify sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) instruments and approaches that are critical for environmental protection along the tin and iron ore/steel supply chains. We first seek to develop a joint understanding of the challenges and barriers to improving environmental performance in these supply chains, building on findings from previous work packages (e.g. power structures, data exchange, world market prices). We will then jointly identify the most relevant (existing and emerging) SSCM instruments and approaches for improving environmental performance. The results of this workshop will feed into the second workshop, which will be organised separately for the two supply chains in June and which will be used to develop a smart mix of instruments and approaches that are designed to interact effectively with each other and support the uptake of environmental protection along the tin and iron ore/steel supply chains.
