The OECD Forum on Responsible Mineral Supply Chains

The 2023 edition of the OECD Forum on Responsible Mineral Supply Chains will take place on 24-28 April 2023 at the OECD Headquarters in Paris. The Forum will reflect the current priorities of the OECD implementation programme, featuring sessions on combatting corruption, engaging with mining communities in high-risk areas, and taking action against environmental degradation linked to mineral production and processing. A key theme will be on leveraging due diligence to foster synergies between the policy objectives of a responsible and reliable supply of minerals critical to the energy transition.

All Forum session and partner session times reflect your computer's local time zone.

Main Forum sessions will take place on Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 April 2023, with partners-lead sessions organised that same week on 24-28 April 2023.

In-person Forum sessions will also be simultaneously available in livestreaming (but those joining online will only be able to listen in without the possibility to intervene). Forum sessions will mainly take place in English with simultaneous interpretation in French and Spanish.

The OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas

A common denominator of the discussions at the Forum is the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas (OECD Guidance). The OECD Guidance establishes a common understanding of due diligence in the sector to help companies meet expectations on due diligence laid out in the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.

Since its adoption almost ten years ago, the OECD Guidance has become the leading international and industry standard that provides detailed recommendations to help companies respect human rights and avoid contributing to conflict through their mineral purchasing decisions and practices.

Women’s Rights and Mining (WRM), in collaboration with the OECD, is making special efforts to address key gender concerns throughout the Forum in order to further strengthen the implementation of gender-responsive due diligence. We provide guiding questions for Forum speakers and for attendees to start or deepen the discussions. We monitor gender and social inclusion throughout the Forum sessions, including Partner Sessions. The goal here is to promote more effective due diligence through more inclusive representation in our own events, convening and stakeholder outreach. Other relevant tools include the Stakeholder Statement on Implementing Gender-Responsive Due Diligence and Ensuring the Human Rights of Women in Mineral Supply Chains and the 10 Do’s, a guide for governments, companies and practitioners to support women’s rights and mitigate gender risks during OECD due diligence implementation.
