Description
Ambassador of the Diplomatic and Consular Service of the Republic of Colombia, lawyer from the Externado University, with a master's degree in International Relations from the Complutense University and a diploma from the High Government Course of the Los Andes University in Bogotá.
At the Colombian MFA, among other positions, he has been Director of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law, representing the Ministry in international arenas such as the Court and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, the Assembly of States Parties to the International Criminal Court and the Human Rights Council. Likewise, as Coordinator of International Treaties, he was part of the negotiating group of the FTA between Colombia and the United States. Ambassador Jater has also been Coordinator for Canada and the United States and Coordinator of Border Integration Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the foreign service, he was the first head of mission of the Colombian Embassy in Azerbaijan, Minister Plenipotentiary in Geneva, where he was in charge of relations with the International Labour Organization ILO and chaired the Legal Affairs and International Labour Standards Section of that same organization. Likewise, he has served as Plenipotentiary Minister at the Colombian Embassy in Stockholm, Counsellor at the Embassy in Madrid, Vice Consul in Miami and cultural attaché at the Colombian Embassy in Washington D.C., where he chaired the Association of Ibero-American Cultural Attachés.
