Description

Francisca Perales holds a degree in Biochemical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso (PUCV). She assumed the position of Undersecretary of Regional and Administrative Development at the Ministry of the Interior on August 16, 2023. In this role, she has led the drafting of a Decentralization Policy; the implementation of the subnational funds of the Mining Royalty Law; the transferences of power to Regional Governments; and the establishment of metropolitan areas, among many other initiatives. Previously, she served as Undersecretary of Social Services at the Ministry of Social Development and Family, starting at the beginning of President Gabriel Boric’s administration in March 2022. In this position, she led the creation of the National Registry of Caregivers and coordinated the Interministerial Technical Secretariat for the National Care System. She also coordinated recovery and early aid following emergencies caused by the wildfires of february 2023 and floods in the winter of 2023. She served as vicepresident of Convergencia Social from 2019 to 2022, one of the political parties that merged to form the Frente Amplio party. She has participated in initiatives such as the Feminist Front and was one of the founders of Abrecaminos, a project aimed at promoting the leadership of women and LGBT+ community. She is currently a representative on the party’s Central Committee, following the 2024 internal elections.
