Mallorquín Wetland Ecopark: A Model of Coexistence Between Urban Development and Environmental Sustainability At the northern edge of Barranquilla, where the Magdalena River meets the Caribbean Sea, flourishes the Mallorquín Wetland Ecopark — a natural sanctuary home to more than 170 species of birds, as well as mammals, reptiles, fish, and amphibians. Four types of mangroves embrace the wetlands, creating a unique and vital ecosystem for the biodiversity of the Colombian Caribbean.
