Maria Paula Arenas
Vice president of Investment
María Paula Arenas Quijano serves as the Vice President of Investment at
ProColombia, working alongside the organization’s President, Carmen Caballero, to
attract foreign investment into high-impact, sustainable projects that contribute to the
country’s reindustrialization and competitiveness.
Before joining ProColombia, María Paula was the Director of Foreign Investment
and Services at the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Tourism. She holds a law degree
and a master's in law from Universidad de los Andes, the University of Geneva, and
the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies. Additionally, she
earned a master's in applied economics from Universidad de los Andes.
With a strong legal background, she has held key positions at the Directorate of
International Legal Defense of the National Agency for Legal Defense of the State.
She also served as Director of Trade Relations and Advisor on Economic Integration
at the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Tourism.
Her experience includes negotiating and advising on major trade agreements
between Colombia and countries such as Mexico, Peru, Chile, Venezuela,
Switzerland, and Canada, as well as regional markets like the Andean Community,
Mercosur, and the European Union. Furthermore, she has played a crucial role in
shaping public policies related to trade and foreign investment in Colombian
