Description

Javier García has a degree in chemical engineering from the Complutense University in Madrid, a Master's Degree in Innovation Management and a postgraduate degree in Business Administration and Marketing Management. During his professional career he has brought more than 20 years of experience in standardization work to the Association and an international recognition that has materialized in various positions of responsibility in standardization organizations. Currently he is Vice President for Technical Management of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and over the last years as member of the ISO Council, he has had the privilege and the opportunity to contribute to the design and planning of the implementation of ISO Strategy 2030, allowing him to fully understand its objectives in the existing global context. He is also a member of the Board of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). Since 2018 up to 2020, he has been Vice-president Technical of the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC), and during the previous years 2012 to 2017 he has served as member in the Standardization Management Board of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). As Director General, he has led the transformation of the Spanish standardization activities looking to increase the profile of standardization in political, business, and societal agendas. He has promoted innovative mechanisms to facilitate participation in the development and further implementation of standards through products and services that address the user needs, as well as promoting the Standard as the tool for regulators and industry to be used to expand influence in global markets, be competitive and achieve technological leadership.
