Lukáš Vondrovic got his Ph.D at the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Structural Geology. He started his career as a researcher at the Czech Geological Survey, focusing on geological research of igneous and metamorphic terrains. After changing his position he started to work on SURAO as the head of the geological group and as among many projects was responsible for the construction of the Underground Research Facility Bukov and selection of 4 potential DGR sites. His current position is SURAO Director. He has professional experience of 12 years in the field of geology, and 10 years in the field of radioactive waste disposal.

NEA membership consists of 34 countries representing 80% of the world's installed nuclear electricity generating capacity. The mission of the NEA is to assist its member countries in maintaining and further developing, through international co-operation, the scientific, technological and legal bases required for a safe, environmentally sound and economical use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
