Description

Masaaki Yamaguchi has been a Deputy Director for the Radioactive Waste Management Policy Division at the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI) since January 2024. He started his career in 2006 at the Geological Survey of Japan, AIST as a post-doctoral fellow, before joining Quintessa Japan (now QJ Science) in 2008, and Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) in 2016. He has more than 15 years’ experience in the safety assessment of HLW especially for long-term natural phenomena such as uplift and erosion and subsequent topographic changes. He finished his Ph.D. in Environmental Studies at the University of Tokyo in 2005.
