Dr. Jian LIU, born in 1982, obtained his PhD from the Ecole Centrale de Lille, France, in 2012, majored in civil engineering. He started his career in Beijing Research Institute of Uranium Geology (BRIUG) in 2013. Now he is engaged in the development of China’s underground research laboratory and is the director of the rock mechanics and underground engineering research office in the China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA) Innovation Centre on Geological Disposal of High-Level Radioactive Waste.

NEA membership consists of 34 countries representing 80% of the world's installed nuclear electricity generating capacity. The mission of the NEA is to assist its member countries in maintaining and further developing, through international co-operation, the scientific, technological and legal bases required for a safe, environmentally sound and economical use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
