Description

Since 2016, Dr Tim Vietor is the Department Head of Safety, Geology & Radioactive Materials and Executive Board Member at Nagra, Switzerland. He leads technical work in site selection, performance and safety analysis. Concurrently he also serves as Member of the Committee on Final Disposal at the German Ministry of Environment and attached as a Lecturer at ETH Zürich on the subject of deep geological disposal of radioactive waste. His previous positions at Nagra have included key appointments such Section Head Site Investigation at Nagra from 2011-2016, and Project Manager Rock Mechanics from 2005 to 2011 where he was a part of underground laboratory experiments. He holds a PhD in Geology from the University of Göttingen (1999), along with a Post-doc at Helmholtz-Geoforschungszentrum Potsdam (2005) on the topic of numerical modelling of orogenic processes.
