Description
Jacques Delay is currently Senior Expert at the Scientific and Technical Direction of Andra. His background is geologist engineer with a master’s degree in hydrogeology and rock mechanics.
After 8 years as hydrogeologist at the French Atomic Agency (CEA) in charge of site hydrogeological surveys, testing and monitoring, Jacques Delay joined Andra in 1992. He was first involved in the site investigation activities in four districts in France from 1992 to 1999, that lead to the selection of the Bure site.
From 1999 to 2009 Jacques was head of the Scientific Department at Bure URL. He had the responsibility to design the two first experimental programs in the URL. He took this position until 2011 as Deputy Scientific Director of Andra.
Then Jacques Delay took over the position of Secretary General of the Implementing Geological Disposal of Radioactive Waste Technology Platform (IGD-TP) for the period 2012-2016.
He is currently involved in the scientific investigation preparatory work prior the start of the construction of the Deep Geological Disposal in Bure, known as Cigéo Project. He contributes to international activities dealing with siting and site characterization activities in the framework of IAEA or European projects.
