Description

Tetsuo FUJIYAMA is a senior manager, responsible for planning of site investigation of deep geological repository, development of a safety case and safety communications, at Science and Technology Department of Nuclear Waste Management Organization of Japan (NUMO), which is an implementer of HLW disposal in Japan. After graduating the Department of Civil Engineering at the Graduate School of Kyoto University in 1995, he worked for Maeda Corporation, a construction company in Japan. He was engaged in research and development work in the field of civil engineering for 15 years. He obtained a PhD specialised in soil mechanics from Kyoto University in 2004. He joined NUMO in 2011 and started his work on geological disposal program. He was mainly involved in development of NUMO’s mid-term R&D plan, support for public communication activities, project management for development of the NUMO’s generic safety case which was published in 2021. He has been a member of the Integration Group for the Safety Case (IGSC) since 2017 in the OECD/Nuclear Energy Agency.
