Dr. Ingo Blechschmidt, based in Switzerland at Nagra (National Cooperative for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste), holds a Master's degree in Geology from Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany, and a Ph.D. in sedimentary and structural geology from the University of Bern, Switzerland. He obtained an Executive MBA from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland, in 2021, further developing his leadership skills. Since joining Nagra in 2004, Ingo has played key roles, initially as a Project Manager at the Grimsel Test Site and later as its Section Head. In this capacity, he oversees research, development, and demonstration activities, ensuring alignment with Nagra's objectives and international partners' goals. He represents Nagra in esteemed international organizations such as the IAEA Underground Research Facilities Network, Implementing Geological Disposal Technology Platform (IGD-TP), and European Joint Programme on Radioactive Waste Management (EURAD). His extensive international network underscores his commitment to knowledge and technology transfer in radioactive waste management and associated research. In May 2024, Ingo assumed the role of Manager of the Collaboration & Consultancy department at Nagra.
