Description
Mr. Marlone Davis has over twenty-five years of nuclear industry experience. Mr. Davis is a Senior Transportation and Storage Safety Inspector in the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS) at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), where he is responsible for performing inspections at manufacturing facilities and corporations that fabricate and design transport packagings and dry cask storage casks both domestic and international. Mr. Davis also assist in managing the implementation of the NRC’s transportation and storage quality assurance (QA) and inspection programs that provide approvals for QA programs and oversight for the transport of radioactive material and storage of spent nuclear fuel.
Mr. Davis joined the NRC in 2003 as a Reactor Engineer in the NRC Region I Office. Since that time, he has held several positions within the NRC such as Resident and Senior Resident Inspector in the NRC’s Region I and IV Offices. As a Senior Resident Inspector, Mr. Davis was responsible for monitoring major projects and all inspection activities at his assigned nuclear power plant. He was also a Project Manager (PM) in two branches, the Inspection and Oversight Branch and Renewal and Material Branch, in the Office of NMSS. Similar to his current role, Mr. Davis has been able to interact with a number of international counterparts as a PM, specifically regarding aging management of both the transport of radioactive material and storage of spent nuclear fuel. Prior to joining the NRC, Mr. Davis worked as an engineer for Sargent & Lundy at several nuclear power plants. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering with a Specialization in Waste Management and Environmental Restoration from Kansas State University.
